Fall Matching Game Craft

My Fall Matching Games is a great way to break the ice with some new vocabulary as you move into a Fall Leaf Study or just into the season.

Supplies:

For this craft you’ll just need your printer (here’s mine, it prints from your phone and it’s very cost effective even with ink, *affiliate*); 2 pages of white cardstock and 2 pages of a different color cardstock; scissors or a cutter like this (affiliate); and a glue stick.

I like to use a cutter if I’m doing it myself, but if my 7YO is doing the project I like to let her practice. Cutting is such a practice life skill.

You’ll also need my Fall Matching Game or the 3-in-1 Fall Activity Bundle. (<—Better Value)

Directions:

First print out your pages. I printed two on white cardstock and two on brown craft paper. You could choose whatever color you want, but I liked the rustic feel of the craft paper. You could also just print the front sides. I know we’ll be using this activity frequently, so I went ahead and made it sturdy. You can also choose to laminate the cards after cutting. I have this guy (affiliate) and it is super adequate for the price. You do you.

I then cut the border off the perimeter of the sheets. You could cut out each card individually, and it totally works, but this was so much easier. After cutting the borders, I glued the white to the brown, both faced outward (duh, yeah?). Then I just cut along the lines and Ta-Dah!

So easy a kid could do it! And mine did the second time.

This was an activity my 7YO had fun making and her little brother (2YO) was able to play with her.

To play:

The cards are “shuffled” and turned face-down on a flat surface. The first player flips over two cards. If they are a match, the player collects the pair and takes a second turn. If they are not a match, the player flips the cards back to face-down, and then the second players’ turn begins.

This activity is part of my Fall Bundle and individually works well with my Fall Leaves Montessori 3 Part Cards and Fall Scavenger Hunts.

Have fun and Happy Fall everyone!
