What We’re Reading: May 2020

We’ve bought more books in the last two months than usual with the whole cancelled world thing. While we miss our public library (and our librarian!, I have to say I like seeing the books as permanent fixtures in our home.

Strega Nona

After Tomie de Paola, the author and illustrator of all the Strega Nona books and many others, passed away these all went out of stock for awhile. So I was so glad to see that this one was available! Love Strega Nona and her silly assistant Big Anthony. The pictures are gorgeous and sweet. This is a classic you need.

Wherever You Are My Love Will Find You

I mean, if this isn’t the quintessential baby shower present then I don’t know what is. Gorgeous book. I cry when I read it. Every. Single. Time. Some big words for my little reader, but I think she likes seeing me getting all melty by the end.

The Little Prince

I never read this as a child and wasn’t sure what to expect, when my daughter and I started reading it together. I have to say I can see why it is considered a classic.

Sarah & Duck Visit The Doctor

Lena Likes Lizards

A book that addresses gender norms. Lena is called out for playing with toys “for boys” at the park. Thankfully, Daddy is there to remind her that if she is interested in something then it doesn’t matter if it’s “for boys” or “for girls” —it’s for Lena.

The Pigeon Wants A Puppy

Mo Williams. Still a genius. I like this one even more than The Pigeon HAS to go to School. Both are great—this book is just that good.

Happy Reading!
