5 Moon Study Must-Haves

If you’re doing a moon or moon phase unit study it’s nice to have a materials you don’t have to prep. I also love it when my 6YO asks to play with her “school toys.” It makes me super happy. Here are five things we bought to go along with our moon unit study that I loved and would totally buy again…

The Moon Book by Gail Gibbons (affiliate) This book is a classic and has been recently updated. The Moon Book gives a quick cultural history lesson, explains the moon phases and tides, and gives a kids version of the moon landing and exploration. A great book for little learners.

The Planets by DK (affiliate) This book is defineilty written on a bit of a higher level but you won’t find better pictures anywhere. It is basically an encyclopedia of the planets, but there is an entire section on Earth’s moon. A great buy that you’ll use on different levels as your child grows.

Uncle Goose Moon Phase Blocks (affiliate) We LOVE these. Great for stacking and with a lovely design these are a great compliment to this unit, especially for young, kinesthetic learners.

Moon and Star Projector Light (affiliate) We use this for “inside camping” quite a bit. The colors change and it’s also good for “dance parties”. It doesn’t show phases but it’s a fun little light show for cloudy nights.

Inflatable Moon Ball (affiliate) Fairly realistic and lots of fun. It’s essentially a moon beachball. A great “prize” as you move through this unit.

Or you can Shop All
